Seminar 912 Maintenance School Oct 11-12, 2010 For Technicians wanting to perform Level #2 maintenance which includes disassembly and refit on an actual 912 bench engine. This engine is disassembled and reassembled by the students in a hands on work shop that emphasis failure analyst and component removal and replacement. This course will supply you the following information and skills: 1. Fuel System Removal 2. Cooling System Removal 3. Gearbox Removal 4. Lubrication – Oil Pump Removal and refit 5. Ignition System – Removal and Refit 6. Cylinders & Piston – Removal and refit 7. Vacuum pump and accessory removal and refit 8. Valve train removal and refit 9. Resource availability for certified component repair This is a two day 16 hour class that qualifies graduates to maintain 912 and 914 engines under ASTM standards as set forth by the Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) regulations. Passing a written exam is required for certification. Graduates will be issued an iRMT (independent Rotax Maintenance Technician) badge and service number good for two years service. It also qualifies graduates to receive an iRC (independent Repair Centre) discount in available areas in the western USA. This class is conducted by CPS President, Mike Stratman, and Author of the series “The Proper Care & Feeding of the Rotax engine” as seen in Ultralight Flying Magazine starting in 1985. Prerequisite requirements: returning past course students, Level 1 Service Maintenance School, any certified FAA A&P rated mechanic, or individuals completing the LSA 120 hour Repairman’s Course. This material would likely be too advanced for new or casual users of Rotax engines. California Power Systems, the only West Coast Rotax Training Center, has recently completed an entirely new training and maintenance facility. An 700+ square foot classroom is designed especially for advanced Rotax Training at CPS’s Hayward Airport Facility. With a special emphasis on student comfort the new facility is equipped with wireless internet, large screen LCD TV Monitor for slide show and video presentations, built-in audio system for easy listening, clean room assembly area, & forced air climate control. Facilities are designed for students to do hands-on work on both an actual aircraft as well as full teardown and reassembly of a Rotax engine. A few steps outside the classroom a working aircraft offers every student the opportunity to perform most any service or maintenance operation on a running Powerplant. Located at the Hayward Executive Airport the all new facility includes access to pilot Lounge, on-site rental cars, wireless internet access, showers, snooze room, private conference room, heated hangars, Complimentary shuttle, valet service and vending machines. Located within Atlantic Aviation’s Hayward Facility full tie downs and fuel service is available just steps from the runway. Easy Connections: Being only 10 minutes from the Oakland International Airport allows CPS to offer the easiest travel connections for students coming from anywhere, domestically or internationally. Most major airlines including Southwest Airlines (20+ gates) connect to Oakland International, making air travel as affordable as possible.
